IT WAS HELD AN EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE – THE TOPIC OF VOLUNTEERISM IN SPORTS

The Football Association of Serbia held an educational event within the FA of Serbia Volunteers program.

More than 100 young people listened live to experts of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, successful athletes and direct sports workers who spoke about the culture of volunteerism in Serbia, about the importance for the development of young people in sports work through voluntary work, which has a significant role in sports.

The conference was opened, on behalf of the Football Association of Serbia, by Aleksandra Ćupović, Head of General Affairs and FSR Manager of the FA of Serbia, and Ruža Ilić, Grassroots Manager.

Nataša Janković, Manager of Olympic values of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, held a lecture on the impact of sports events on the culture of volunteering in Serbia.

“The legacy of the Universiade of Belgrade held in 2009 is reflected in the fact that the culture of volunteering among young people is on more increasing level, and programs like this one are needed in order for the gathering of enthusiastic people to be sustainable.”

The fact that the Football Associations of Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina responded to the invitation of the Serbian Football Association speaks of the regional importance of the FA of Serbia program volunteers while the arrival of UEFA Mentor for Grassroots Football, Mrs. Helen Croft confirmed the support of UEFA for the Development projects of the FA of Serbia.

“It is very important to make people aware of volunteerism and the volunteer movement in football. It is very important for UEFA, as well as the fact that football associations from the region are also present at this event, considering that through these opportunities we can learn from each other”, concluded Helen Croft.

A panel discussion on the topic of volunteers’ contribution to sports results brought together the Serbian national team player, CSKA Moscow player, Nevena Damjanović, the Sports Director of the Serbian Athletics Federation, Mihail Dudaš and Sreten Rašković.
