WOMEN’S “A” | TWO MATCHES, TWO WINS OF OUR GIRLS IN NATIONS LEAGUE, GREECE WON OVER, THIS IS THE SERBIA THE EUROPE IS COUNTING ON

27.09.2023.

A great evening at the FSS Sports Center in Stara Pazova, an evening of applause, phenomenal moves, and beautiful goals. Our best women’s national team achieved its second victory in the League of Nations, after the turnaround in Poland and winning three points in the match against Ukraine, Greece was also defeated – 4:0 (3:0). The chosen team of coach Dragiša Zečević once again demonstrated great quality, collective spirit and individual values. Suffice it to say that we have a generation of great players, a Serbia that Europe is waiting for.

Our girls practically decided the match after the first 45 minutes of the game. Everything worked in the game of our team, a safe back line, a creative midfield, and a spirited attack. We created the biggest problems for the Greek team on the sides of the field, through Miljana Ivanović and Alegre Poljak, all with the fantastic plays of Jelena Čanković and the unstoppable Jovana Damnjanović. Praise, of course, goes to the other players, the reliable defenders Aleksandra Lazarević, Violeta Slović, Nevena Damjanović and Anđela Frajtović, the tireless Sara Pavlović and Milica Mijatović.

In the continuation the game was calmer, and we didn’t have to wait long for the fourth goal. Jovana Damnjanović crowned a great game with the second goal. Replacements followed, coach Dragiša Zečević gave a chance to Tijana Filipović, Živana Stupar, Vesna Milivojević, Dina Blagojević and Sofija Sremčević, a talented player of Crvena Zvezda who will remember this night for a long time, because she made her debut for the best national team. There was no change to the result until the end.

After two rounds in the League of Nations, Serbia is in first place, ahead of Poland, which defeated Ukraine today (2:1).
