QATAR 2022 | NATIONAL TEAM OF SERBIA STARTED PREPARATIONS PERIOD, PRESS CONFERENCE - HEAD COACH DRAGAN STOJKOVIĆ

The best Serbian national team has started preparations period for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar (20.11-18.12) and its matches in the group stage against Brazil (24.11 20:00h), Cameroon (28.11 – 11:00h) and Switzerland (02.12 – 20:00h)

Players of the National Team of Serbia gathered at the FSS Sports Center in Stara Pazova. The National Team will travel on Tuesday, 15.11 to Manama, to play the friendly match against the National Team of Bahrain on 18.11 (16:30) and our National Team will travel the following day to Doha.

The list of players who will represent Serbia in Qatar was announced by Head Coach Dragan Stojković on Friday, and today it was organized a Press Conference where the Head Coach of the national team was available to numerous media.

– Today is exactly one year since the match with Portugal, the match that brought us all this and because of which we can and must be proud. We achieved q great success, we qualified among the 32 best Teams in the World and that makes us all proud. Regarding the list, you asked if this is a reward for the players who were on the list, not a reward but a merit, for all that they showed during the qualification. These are the players who absolutely deserve to wear the shirt of the Serbian national team. The players who are not on the list now, they are our future, the door is not closed to anyone, in the future. This is a tournament that does not allow any improvisations and we were guided by that. There is no room for sentimentality here, if I could I would lead everything, but we have limitations and things are clear – said coach Dragan Stojković.

Mitrović and Vlahović?

– No coach likes when his players in the club don’t play, I hope everything will be fine. If it doesn’t, we will find a solution, that’s why I’m here. Therefore, we are calmly and ready to go to Qatar, where Serbia will show everything it can.

Will we see attacking Serbia from the start?

– The style we have had so far has brought us a result. This group of players absolutely deserves to be at the World Cup, and how are we going to play… We are going to play the best we can. In which system? It’s too early to talk about it now, we’ll see how the players are doing. This Team of Serbia will do everything to play good football and achieve the results we want. We have a dufficult group, perhaps one of the most difficult, but that’s just more of a challenge. We are a group that is ready, calmly and modestly waiting for this World Cup.

We will try to do our best, if someone is better, we will shake a hand. We have quality, solidarity on the field, our goals and we are focused on achieving those goals. We have three games ahead of us, we’ll try to win a sufficient number of points and therefore to ensure the knockout phase of the competition.
