EURO U17 | THE U17 NATIONAL TEAM IS GOING TO THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP TODAY, SERBIA IS THE ONLY ONE FROM THE REGION IN ISRAEL, THE FIRST RIVAL BELGIUM

16.05.2022.

The generation that will surely present players for the best national team in the future, the successors of Tadic, Mitrovic and other Star players, players born in 2005 and younger, is leaving today for Israel (Tel Aviv), where they will participate in the U17 European Championship on 16/05. Serbia is among the 16 best in Europe, out of 55 UEFA members, but the U17 Technical staff led by coach Radovan Krivokapic, together with Managers, Head of Youth National Teams Nikola Lazetic and Coordinator Igor Matic, wants to go one step further, placement among the top eight in the knockout phase competitions.

The U17 National Team is in the Group C with Belgium, Turkey and Spain, in many opinions, the strongest group in Israel. Serbia will play its first match on 17/05 against Belgium (16.30), three days later the rival is Turkey (13.30), and on 23/05 there will be a match against Spain (16.30). Two teams from the group go to the knockout phase, and our group continues with Group D, which includes Denmark, Portugal, Scotland and Sweden. The quarterfinal matches are scheduled for 26/05, the semifinal matches three days later, and the final match will be played on 01/06.

Great success has already been achieved, the U17 National Team of Serbia is the only one from the region that managed to win a place in the European Championship! Everything gained weight if it is known that the Head Coach Radovan Krivokapić team practically eliminated Croatia in direct matches, first by winning the SC of the FA of Serbia in Stara Pazova, and then in the second round of qualifications and Slovenia, after the draw in Radenci.

– We are going to Israel with the desire to present ourselves in a beautiful way, regardless of the fact that we are in a very demanding group. We respect all rivals, but above all we believe in ourselves, we believe in our potential, the ambition we have. We met the opponents, we played against Turkey in Slovenia in the second round of qualifications, we won the match, but it is a good team with a lot of individual qualities. Belgium also has powerful individuals, physically dominant. There is no need to waste words on Spain, they have been almost invincible for years at this age. We got ready, got to know the virtues of all rivals, but also the weak points. We will try to use them – points out Radovan Krivokapić, the Head Coach of the Serbian U17 national team.
