Serbian National Team participates at the FIFA World Cup which will take place in Russia next year. This success of the best National Team became even more significant in the light of the fact that the “Eagles” have been waiting to qualify for a major competition for eight full years, since in the meantime they missed the two continental and one global competition.

Serbia ended its qualifications in the Group D as first-placed, before the republic of Ireland, Wales, Austria, Georgia and Moldova. Ivanovic and his friends played this last, decisive match against Georgia at the “Rajko Mitić” stadium in Belgrade, and, before nearly 50,000 spectators, won after Aleksandar Prijović's goal in the 74th minute.

Serbia was the most efficient team in its group with 20 goals scored, and the best shooter of the „Eagles“ was Aleksandar Mitrović who had won out the opposing goalkeepers six times. Dušan Tadić is the player with the most assistances (seven), and, together with the team captain Branislav Ivanović, he had played all ten matches in the qualifications.
