17.08.2020.

It has been 14 years since that historic first match and first victory (1:3) of the Serbian football national team over hosting team of the Czech Republic in Uherske Hradište on 16th August 2006. It was a triumph for history and a great start of a new chapter in the history of our football, but also sport in general. That 2006 was full of sports events, but also political ones. First of all, state union of Serbia and Montenegro ceased to exist and finally, after 88 years Republic of Serbia restored its statehood.

In the meantime, by a FIFA decision Serbian national team became a successor of the former state teams (Serbia and Montenegro, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia). A Spaniard Javier Clemente was the first head-coach, known from earlier times and former Spanish team head-coach.

Another reason for this match to be remembered is that Pavel Nedved a legend of the Czech, but also European football, said good bye to his national team performance. He played total of 91 matches for his country and scored 18 goals. Serbia team line-up for that match: Stojković, Marković, Stepanov, Biševac, Luković, Duljaj, Stanković (Ljuboja in 62′), Koroman (Kovačević in 64′), Ilić (Trišović in 46′), Lazović (Žigić in 46′), Pantelić. Scorers for Serbia: Lazović, Pantelić and Trišović.
