Promotion of Djorović and a List of Players for the match against Gibraltar

The new Head Coach said that he wants to see Serbia at the European Championship in Italy and he presented to the public a list of 24 players for the first match in the qualifying group.

The new coach, the old ambitions and the goal to qualify to the European Championship in Italy in 2019. The Football Association of Serbia presented to the public Goran Djorović, a former prominent member of the “A” National Team and a member of the Technical Staff of the “A” National Team that is successfully going towards the World Cup in Russia.

-The appointment of Goran Djorović is a fantastic thing that just goes in favor of our wish and ambition for many prominent players to get the confidence and to accept the responsibility in  Serbian football – said Mr.Goran Bunjevcevic, Sports Director of the Football Association of  Serbia

Goran Đorović expressed his gratitude for the trust to the staff of the Football Association of Serbia, i.e. to the Sports Director, Mr.Goran Bunjevčević.

-We have a clear goal ahead of us, to qualify to the European Championship, which would certainly be a great success, but also an ambition to prepare these guys for what expects them later in the “A” team. In the accomplishment of these ambitions, the focus will always be on the first game that is expecting us, and now it is a match against Gibraltar – said Goran Đorović.

There are 24 players on the players list.

-The doors are not closed to anyone, on the contrary. There are many players on this list from the previous European Championship in Poland and I do not have doubt that they will be very motivated to confirm their quality and our expectations in the new cycle.

The Head Coach will be completely dedicated to the obligations of the U.-21 National Team, but also at the service to the Head Coach of the “A” National Team, Slavoljub Muslin.

-I remain member of the Technical Staff of the “A” National Team, where we really have an excellent cooperation, and I would like to thank my friends from the “A” National Team who are now here to support me on this new trip.

A great defensive player he was, who has, after the period of play for FC “Red Star” (Crvena zvezda)  played for a long period in “Primera” for RCD “Celta” Vigo and RCD “Deportivo” La Coruna, he said that the group in which the “U-21” is competing is not an easy group.

-We have respect for everyone, there are no easy opponents in football for a long time, and we shall have an analysis of our rivals before each match in order to get ready for the match. We want to be ahead of Austria, Russia, FYR Macedonia and Armenia, and I said, let’s go one step at a time. I am here with my knowledge and experience to help the guys so we can accomplish the goal together – said Goran Đorović.

The first match in the qualifying group for the European Championship in Italy in 2019 Serbia plays on 02.09. against Gibraltar in Jagodina (18.00h Kick-off – TV Arena) and the entry to the match is free of charge.
