QATAR 2022 | A LOT OF EXCITEMENT AND A DRAW WITH CAMEROON

29.11.2022.

In the second round of the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar, Serbia played a draw with Cameroon – 3:3 (1:2). This was a six-goal thriller, full of twists and turns, and in the last, third round the Eagles will face Switzerland.

The game of football showed its temper best in the first half, when, until the first goal, we watched one team that was better, more creative, more dangerous, but the other one took the lead in 29th minute – the team of Cameroon. By then, the Eagles could have had a plus of two or three goals, but the post hit by Aleksandar Mitrović after his great work on the right side, and lack of luck, caused this game to show us its darker side. Practically, without a shot on goal guarded by Vanja Milinković-Savić and after a corner kick they were given due to (un)fortunate circumstances, Cameroon took the lead.

That score did not disturb Tadić and his teammates, on the contrary. They kept their focus, showed that all the elements of the game were on their side; knowledge, power, creativity, tactical and technical readiness. The impression was that it was only a matter of time when Epassy would take the ball from the net. And a knockout followed. In the additional time of the first half, Pavlović scored a great header from a set-piece performed by Tadić and only two minutes later, Sergej Milinković-Savić completed a remarkable tourn-around and buried his shot in the bottom right corner of the Cameroon net, bringing great joy to our fans. We waited for and welcomed justice.

The second half brought a lot of new excitements. It was 53rd minute, when we witnessed one of the fabulous team move at the World Cup, starring Aleksandar Mitrović, Kostić, Sergej and Živković with Mitro-goal finishing it like it was a futsal match. And just when it seemed we had points in our pocket, there was a lapse of concentration in Serbia team and Cameroon quickly overturned their two-goal deficit. Both times on the edge of offside, but VAR confirmed everything was regular. By the end of the match, there were chances on both sides, but the final result remained unchanged.
