EURO WU19 | SAYING GOODBYE WITH A WIN AGAINST LITHUANIA, SERBIA HAS A LOT TO REGRET, NINA MATEJIĆ CURRENTLY TOP SCORER WITH FIVE GOALS

23.07.2024.

Serbian national U-19 women’s team (WU19) finished their participation in the European Championship in Lithuania, winning four points in the group, which is the best result in the history of women’s Serbian football. The team selected by the head coach Lidija Stojkanović won Lithuania – 4:1 (2:1) in the third, last group match, and the teams of England and France go to semifinals. After everything we have seen, there is regret remaining for the missed opportunity, above all in the first match with France when our girls had a plus after the first half of the game and chances to double the advantage, but also in the match with England that unfortunately ended in a draw after the penalty for England in the last moments of the match.

We congratulate the girls for all they showed, and there is some consolation in the fact that Serbia currently has the top scorer at the championship (four goals scored by the French Camille Robillard and the English Poppy Pritchard respectively), maybe the best player Nina Matejić with five goals scored in three matches. A goal against France, a masterpiece in the match with England and three goals against Lithuania deserve a mark ten.
