ASSEMBLY OF THE FA OF SERBIA HELD AFTER A YEAR OF GREAT SUCCESSES

The first constitutive session of the Assembly of the FA of Serbia, for the mandate period 2022-2026 was held in the FAS Sports Centre in Stara Pazova. 72 delegates were present, with FIFA and UEFA representatives, Elkhan Mammadov and Luca Nicola, also attending the meeting.

The delegates adopted the new agenda, without points 9, 10 and 11, because Nenad Bjeković withdrew his candidacy for the position of the president of the FAS. FAS Activity Report was also adopted, the report about the year of great results, great achievements and the final touch by our best national team with qualification for the World Cup in Qatar and UEFA Nations League elite round. Good results were also achieved by almost all youth teams, and women’s football is experiencing a great expansion.

General Secretary Jovan Šurbatović spoke about everything achieved in the period between two assemblies, fantastic results of the A team, youth teams, competitions regularity and “clean” football, and big sponsorship contracts for the good of Serbian football. FAS helped the clubs with more than 7 million euros in the past few years, more than 3,000 clubs have received a donation from the FA in the form of equipment, the annual budgets of the regional FAs have been significantly increased, and the FA paid more than 12 million euros in taxes and state levies. In 2022 the record budget value has been 30 million euros. FAS was praised by UEFA and FIFA for its modern, democratic Statutes and as an Association that worked well. FA of Serbia was declared by the Sports Association of Serbia as the most successful sports association in 2022. There were a lot of little things, a lot of information, many good things for Serbian football that the general secretary Jovan Šurbatović presented in detail to the FAS Assembly. It was followed by voting and the Activity Report was adopted practically unanimously, with only one abstention vote. Financial Report was also adopted.

UEFA representative Luca Nicola praised the work of the football organization, the achieved reforms, emphasized that the focus of the football Serbia has to be the support for the national team at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. UEFA will stand by the FAS and will continue to support it at all levels, especially in the forthcoming election process. Luca Nicola wished the head-coach Dragan Stojković all the best in Qatar, stating that he hoped Stojković and his players would make some unforgettable moments for Serbia.

FIFA Director Member Associations Europe Elkhan Mammadov conveyed the greetings of the FIFA president and emphasized that FIFA, together with UEFA, worked with the FAS on amendments and the new Statutes. He congratulated our team for their fantastic results in the qualifiers and especially the win against Portugal, and wished Serbia all the luck and good results in Qatar.
