UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE B | HUNGARY BETTER THAN SERBIA IN BELGRADE A DEFEAT THAT DOES NOT HURT

12.10.2020.

In the 3rd round of the UEFA Nations League B Serbia was defeated by Hungary – 0:1 (0:1) at the “Rajko Mitić” stadium in Belgrade. After a hard, important and demanding match in Oslo and a victory over Norway that enabled Serbia to play UEFA EURO play-off finals, “Eagles” had not enough energy and were not on the previous match level. Head-coach Ljubiša Tumbaković fielded a combined team, same as the Hungarian coach Marco Rossi, but the guest team was definitely more eager to win and finally and deservedly did. The only goal was scored by Könyves in 20. minute of the game, after a few mistakes of the Serbian team players. It is interesting though that this was the first match of two neighboring countries in the 21st century, ever since 1997 and two play-off matches for the 1998 World Cup in France.
