The U21 Coach Ilija Stolica announced the list of player for the forthcoming matches within the qualifications for the U21 European Championship vs. Latvia (4 September) and Bulgaria (8 September), to be played at the Gronji Milanovac stadium in Serbia.
There are more players on the list than usual?
-The situation is a bit specific now, due to the corona virus pandemic the whole world faces. We simply are not sure about a condition for a certain number of players. On the other hand we have a situation with „bonus“ players of the Super league who deserve to experience satisfaction and reward for what they provide in their clubs on the fields of elite rank – said Ilija Stolica.
A large number of internationals are also on the list, but there is a problem with the time they spent on field of play and status in the clubs they come from?
– We have a group of players who have performed well in this part of the qualifications so far, but it is not final, there always will be new players, someone who stands out at a given moment and is in good shape. The internationals we called were already on the list and we will summon them again regardless of their status in the clubs. We want them to be with us to make sure how ready they are at the moment. One group of players has not had a competitive match since March and that is certainly a big problem for us. A lot of them have a problem with undefined status in the club, so we want to support them as well. We will see when we are together if and how much they are ready to provide to the national team in the upcoming matches – said Ilija Stolica
