On behalf of the Football Association of Serbia, Mr.Jovan Surbatovic, General Secretary took part in the discussion through video conference with UEFA Management and other Member Associations.
“The meeting was conducted in an open and constructive atmosphere. We all praised UEFA determination to listen the position of all other Associations and afterwards to make a final decision.
There are still seven different scenarios depending on the development of the COVID-19 situation, and we all expressed a hope that the pandemic situation will soon be over and that the Football will continue worldwide.
President Čeferin especially greeted the President of our Association, Mr. Slavisa Kokeza, and all participants of the conference also greeted the President of the Football Association of Switzerland, Mr. Dominique Blanc and wished them a quick recovery.
Moving the calendar automatically means that a friendly match against Russia, scheduled for 6.6.2020 is canceled. Our Association has a firm contract with Russia and it is quite certain that the match will be played at some other date.
The most important aspect for the time being is to keep following the instructions of our Government and UEFA Management and to help bringing the COVID-19 situation back to normal. After all, it is necessary to have all conditions in place for the match against Norway, which, according to the new calendar, is scheduled for June 2020,” said Mr. Jovan Šurbatović for a website of the Football Association of Serbia.
