His goal made the whole Serbia proud, made it smile. The Eagles will go to the World Cup thanks to a great goal by Aleksandar Mitrović. He didn’t hide his happiness and joy after the Lisbon victory.

“I don’t know where to start. I think I’m going to have a heart attack. This is a great victory. I think we truly deserve this qualification. We were better, we managed to win Portugal, we came here to play football”, said Mitrović after the game.

It looked like a payback time for all the failures, and it did. And in what a way! A goal in the 90th minute.

“It’s a payback time for Scotland, and with an interest. When you’re honest and work honestly – it pays off. Both me and the team believed in the coach, we played with great confidence. We are overjoyed for ourselves and the whole nation. What a happiness for the whole country! I have no words to express happiness, joy, pride. It’s all mixed up. It’s an incredible feeling”, the Serbian hero commented excitedly.

The unbelievable striker explained that the atmosphere in the team was the right one, that success was the result of all that. He praised the coach, teammates, the FA… The Eagles did not land even after that early goal.

“We talked before the game, that we knew what we wanted. We believed in what we were doing, we dominated for 90 minutes and deservedly won. I did score, but the team, the Head-Coach, the people in the FA, the fans… We really created something amazing. I don’t remember it being like this in the national team, and I’ve been here for a long time. It is up to us to keep this going”, said Mitrović.

The next big thing is 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“This team is ready to do miracles. I told them in the dressing room: ‘Guys, are you crazy!?!? We are going to Qatar to play football, to outplay others”, concluded Mitrović.
