A TEAM DIRECTOR, STEVAN STOJANOVIĆ | HEAD-COACH PREDICTED EVERYTHING, THE PLAYERS SHOWED A STRONG CHARACTER, BUT THIS WAS JUST AN EPISODE, THE MAIN STORY IS IN QATAR

The best team of Serbia conquered Estadio Da Luz, brought Portugal to their knees and brought great joy to our nation. Everyone agrees – we have not seen a better Serbia in the last few decades, and after all, the very fact that the triumph in the Lisbon night deserves a prefix “historical”, is a confirmation of the quality and strength of this generation of our players. Everybody is talking about “Piksimania” taking over Serbia; the team won the trust of the nation once again. Therefore, about everything once again, but now from the point of view of the A Team Director, Stevan Stojanović, former legendary captain of FK “Red Star”.

“We knew the match would keep going the way it was, we knew it would be difficult. Head-Coach Dragan Stojković predicted all that, he prepared the right tactics and convinced our players that they could beat Portugal. I think we deserve this place in the World Cup, considering all the matches we played during the qualification phase, and the match in Lisbon was just a crown of all our previous games. I am especially glad that this last, most important match against the strongest rival in the group was an opportunity to show our strong character and quality”, said A Team Director, Stevan Stojanović.

The quality and especially the character of Tadić and his teammates are best illustrated by the fact that their plans were not disturbed even with that early lead of their host.

“That’s right, I agree, although they showed a strong character during the entire qualification period, from match to match. Let us remember the very start, the matches with Ireland and Portugal in Belgrade. The guys understood what the coach was asking of them, they confirmed they were the top class, showed strength and finally deserved to be happy. The highlight of everything they invested and delivered at the pitch was that 90. minute and the goal that came as a reward for all of them.”

This is a victory for which one lives in football, for many players the dreams came true with the outcome at Da Luz.

“Yes, but this is only one part of the story, an episode. Now Qatar is in front of us all, we want to make great things there”, said Stevan Stojanović, leaving no dilemma about the future plans.
